The Xlab Carbon Wing sets the standard of what any rear hydration system should aim for: lightweight, extremely functional, aerodynamic, and of course carbon. Xlab has been designing the Wings for nearly a decade and their reputation has only grown, with many top professional athletes electing to use their Wings as a necessary tool for Ironman success. The Xlab Carbon Saddlewing is the new generation of rear hydration systems. Rear carriers should not interfere with the air on the rider’s back, but instead fill in the turbulence ‘hole’ behind the riders posterior, thereby reducing the rider’s drag (which accounts for 64% of energy used on a racing bicycle).
Storage: The Xlab Carbon Wing's initial goal was to solve the problem of storing keys, cell phones, cash, tire levers, and other essential items during training and come race day. These and other items can be stored in a saddlebag which drops vertically and easily into the rear ‘luggage compartment’ and is secured by the top X-Strap. In addition you have a couple of choices for storing your CO2 cartridges and Microflate, or Speed Chuckon the rear of the Carbon Wing, using the optional hexagonal X-NUT or placed in a saddlebag. The Xlab Carbon Wing also makes it simple to attach tires and tubes, which always seem to become an issue especially on the night before a big race! Now tires and/or tubes can be attached neatly under the Carbon Wing either inside the strapped on saddlebag or without a bag and just with the included strap.
Hydration: The Carbon Wing wants you to stay hydrated, which is easily done by mounting a bottle cage on the rear or one on each side.
Adjustability: One of the key features, invented by Xlab, is the dual mounting holes for the saddle rail clamps. One position sets the bottle cages close to vertical and the other inclines the cages for a rider's preference.
Lightweight: Without hardware the Xlab Carbon Wing weighs only 55 grams!
