Case. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, lyre lugs, crown and pushers with integral guard, correctors in the band, screwed-down back with embossed Speedmaster logo, dust protecting cap. Case is in impeccable condition.

Dial. Black with painted tritium luminous baton indexes, sunk subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, subsidiary chapter ring for the date of the month with aperture for the moon phase.

Movement. Cal. 866, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, micrometer regulator.

Dial, case and movement signed.

Introduced in the mid 1980s, the Omega Speedmaster with astronomic moonphase and date seems to be the natural evolution of this model. The moon is reminiscent of the watch history and the complication itself coupled with a date remained a useful tool to the wearer.

According to late Chuck Maddox, only 1,300 Speedmaster with Moonphase reference 345.0809 were produced, making this watch one of the rarest of all Speedmasters.

The above watch is in superb condition with a gorgeous dial, the tritium markers are thick and have turned into a beautiful yellowish hue.  The combination to these markers with the glossy dial and shiny moon make for a stunning dial and watch. The condition of the watch and specifically of the case and bracelet make it a "must-have" for any serious Speedmaster collector.
